Guy Laroche (1921 – 1989) was a French designer, who started his career in millinery, then moved on to become the assistant for couturier Jean Desses. In 1956/57, he opened his own atelier, and , in his first collection, introduced hot colours of coral, pink, topaz, orange and turquoise. Elegant colour combinations became the trademark of his designs. In 1961, he opened a much larger boutique on Avenue Montaigne, Paris, which was very successful, with assured and consistent designs.
