Pate de verre enamel 'Boho' necklace, Andree Bazot, 1960s

This is a beautiful necklace, by master enameler Andree Bazot - she worked in Paris in the 1950s and 60s, her pieces were hand painted and enamelled, so no two pieces are alike. She uses a distinctive 'mouse tail' chain to hang the enamelled panels from. Each panel has several coats of enamel and a 'cookie' of glass added to the final firing. In this case, a magnificent deep red raised up to resemble a cabochon gemstone. A lovely and rare collectors piece, but also very wearable.
