Marcel Boucher turquoise and lapiz set in Rhodium plate 3D flower brooch, 1960s

Marcel Boucher turquoise and lapiz set in Rhodium plate 3D flower brooch, 1960s

£350.00

A classic 1960s Boucher flower brooch, featuring art glass cabochons with pave set rhinestones set in a rhodium plated metal. This brooch is constructed so that each petal curves and the central cabochon is a large Lapiz art glass stone which makes the whole brooch very three dimensional. The brooch is signed and has a style number. Marcel Boucher manufactured costume jewellery from 1937 through until 1971, based in New York. He is one of the greatest designers of costume jewellery, if not the greatest. Mixing impeccable style, design and colouring, the pieces are always of the highest quality. Having worked as an apprentice to Cartier in France, his knowledge of fine jewellery nurtured many of the wonderfully conceived designs we now see, from his beginnings in the 1930s, through the 1950s and 60s.
