This lovely quite restrained antiqued gilt curl brooch was part of the first wave of jewellery Joseff made for the public. It is as simple and lovely to wear, as it was when first made in the early 1940s. 

Eugene Joseff decided to branch out from movies into selling jewellery to the women of America in the late 1930s. He restricted it to exclusive stores and made the pieces high end and the experience of buying each piece as glamorous as possible. In this, he was tremendously successful.
