Hobe hand set milk glass and blue paste bracelet, 1950s
Hobe hand set milk glass and blue paste bracelet, 1950s

This is a beautifully constructed bracelet. It looks unworn and is a clever shape, looking only slightly domed when laid flat, on the wrist it is convex creating a cuff shape. A great piece for summer. William Hobe started making theatrical jewellery in the USA from the 1920s onwards, and made pieces for the Ziegfeld Follies. Later the company became one of the largest retailers of costume jewellery throughout the 20th Century, creating distinctive pieces in the 1920s and 30s, continuing right through until the end of the century with a high quality range.
