Flamand Paris Art Deco Bakelite and anodised aluminium cuff bracelet, 1930s
Flamand Paris Art Deco Bakelite and anodised aluminium cuff bracelet, 1930s
£300.00
The Flamand company started by Albert Flamand made bracelets in the 1930s in Paris. Many of these held secret make up palettes or lipsticks within the design. This one however, has lovely amber and dark green Bakelite details and is made of a strange light metal called Fladium an anodized aluminum which the company invented. They were extremely popular as they made bracelets for Parisian stars of the day including Josephine Baker and Opera star Claudine Cereola. Hugely collectable at the time, they remain rare and an exciting addition to any costume jewellery collection. Additionally it is snug and comfortable to wear and a great Deco look.
